Weddings Vallarta by Barbara

Welcomes you to the beginning of something extraordinary.

Imagine exchanging your vows beneath swaying palms as the sun slowly melts into the Pacific, celebrating beneath a canopy of stars in a private villa overlooking the ocean, or dancing the night away surrounded by the people who matter most. Your wedding should feel effortless, deeply personal, and unlike any celebration you and your guests have ever experienced.

At Weddings Vallarta by Barbara, we create destination weddings that are as distinctive as the couples who inspire them.

Based in the breathtaking coastal paradise of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, we are a boutique destination wedding planning and design studio specializing in thoughtfully curated celebrations for couples from around the world. Every wedding is intentionally designed to reflect your story, your style, and the moments you’ll treasure for a lifetime.

For us, luxury isn’t measured by extravagance – it’s measured by how a celebration feels. It is the calm confidence of knowing every detail has been anticipated. It is stepping into a beautifully designed space that feels unmistakably yours. It is being fully present with the people you love while every moment unfolds seamlessly around you.

With more than two decades of experience designing and producing destination weddings throughout Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay, Barbara and her team bring deep local knowledge, trusted relationships, and the ability to anticipate needs before they ever become concerns. From intimate gatherings to spectacular multi-day celebrations, every event is brought to life with artistry, precision, and genuine care.

As locals who know every hidden gem, every breathtaking venue, and every trusted creative partner, we transform remarkable places into extraordinary experiences. Whether you’re envisioning a ceremony on the beach at sunset, an elegant private villa celebration, a candlelit garden reception, or a vibrant Mexican fiesta filled with music, culture, and joy, every detail is thoughtfully crafted to create a celebration that feels effortless and unforgettable.

Our role extends far beyond planning. We become your trusted guide, creative partner, and calm presence throughout the journey, allowing you to embrace every laugh, every happy tear, every embrace, and every meaningful moment without distraction.

Because your wedding isn’t simply another beautiful event.

It is the beginning of a new chapter—one filled with memories, meaning, and moments you’ll carry with you for years to come.

We’ll make sure it feels exactly as it should.

Barbara Fancsik de PérezFounder & Creative Director
My Puerto Vallarta story began when I traded the city streets of Toronto, Canada for the sunshine, beauty, and vibrant spirit of Mexico’s Pacific coast. What started as a new chapter quickly became a lifelong connection to a place I now proudly call home.

My foundation in here was built through hospitality, where I owned and operated two successful restaurants for seven years, learning first-hand the art of creating memorable experiences and bringing people together around a shared table. Then, in 2005, I traded in the tapas and sangria for love and “I Do’s” and discovered a new passion: creating beautiful wedding celebrations.

After helping grow one of Puerto Vallarta’s premier wedding and event planning companies as Managing Partner, I founded Weddings Vallarta by Barbara in 2011, inspired by my love for design, connection, and creating meaningful experiences.

I have watched Puerto Vallarta grow and transform over the years, evolving into one of the world’s most sought-after destination wedding locations, yet its heart remains the same. The warmth of its people, the beauty of its landscapes, and its charm and authenticity have inspired me to build trusted relationships, discover hidden gems, and develop a deep appreciation for the culture and spirit that define this incredible place.

Because creating a truly meaningful destination wedding requires more than knowing the location.

It requires knowing the soul of the place.

Being bilingual and deeply connected to Mexican culture allows me to understand the nuances of bringing a wedding vision to life in Mexico. Each celebration I create is a reflection of the couple behind it—personal, authentic, and filled with moments that matter.

After all these years, I remain grateful to do what I love: guiding couples through one of the most important journeys of their lives and creating the setting where their own stories can beautifully unfold.

Julieta JimenezAssociate Wedding Planner
JOriginally from the beautiful city of Guadalajara, Mexico, Julieta made Puerto Vallarta her home 20 years ago, bringing with her a natural passion for hospitality, service, and creating meaningful experiences for others.

Her journey began in the restaurant industry, where she immersed herself in every aspect of the business—from serving and bartending to learning the importance of teamwork, attention to detail, and exceptional customer care. Her dedication and drive eventually led her to Puerto Vallarta’s Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport, where she spent five years as a Restaurant Supervisor, gaining valuable experience in personnel management, organization, and staying calm under pressure.

When Julieta decided to bring her passion for service into the world of weddings and events, it quickly became clear that she had found the perfect fit. Joining Weddings Vallarta by Barbara as Associate Wedding Planner, she embraced every opportunity to learn, grow, and bring her natural energy and dedication to each celebration.

Today, it feels as though she was made for this work. Her enthusiasm, warmth, and commitment to going above and beyond make her an incredible part of our team. She loves discovering what makes each couple unique—their style, their vision, their colors, and the personal details that transform a wedding into a true reflection of their love story.

In Julieta’s own words:
“I love that every wedding is different and beautiful. The months of planning, organizing, and creating alongside our couples are amazing to me. Seeing everything come together on their special day feels like magic. I learn something new every season, meet wonderful couples, and I am so grateful to be part of these incredible moments.”

Getting Married in Puerto Vallarta

One of the first decisions you’ll have to make when planning your Puerto Vallarta wedding is whether you want to have a civil (legal) ceremony, a spiritual/symbolic wedding ceremony or a ceremony in the church.  Weddings Vallarta is here to help you with whichever you choose.

Civil Ceremony

Foreigners can legally be married in Mexico as long as they present all the necessary documents and comply with all the requirements. It does require quite a bit of legal paperwork and preparation and you will be required to be here for a few days before the wedding, so plan accordingly. The civil ceremony is the only ceremony legally recognized in Mexico. A justice of the peace performs this ceremony in Spanish.

Catholic Ceremony

If you are planning to have your ceremony in one of the lovely Catholic churches here in Vallarta, you’ll need to plan a few months ahead so you have time to gather all the required documentation and fulfill the church requirements. You are required to be legally married first. Catholic wedding ceremonies are performed only in the Church, priests do not go out to villas, venues or perform ceremonies on the beach.

Symbolic Ceremony

The symbolic/spiritual ceremony allows you the freedom to choose the type of marriage ceremony you’ll have, the vows you will be saying, who will be performing your ceremony and where your wedding will take place. The wording, the rituals, the elements are all completely up to you and it can be as long or brief as you chose.  You can get legally married at home at your leisure, before or after, or not at all. It’s all up to you.

Wedding Venues

Location, location, location….

Choosing and falling in love with a venue is the first big step!  Next come the logistics. Issues like vendor accessibility, space restrictions, venue rules, policies and pricing, distance and travel time from yours and your guests accommodations, all can have a dramatic effect on your plans and budget. Let us arrange and organize all that for you so you have nothing to worry about on your big day!

None of the stress, all of the fun!

Let us take care of every single detail and make your wedding day the best day of your life!

“Barbara and her staff provided us with a most magical day. Everything was perfect and the little extra’s Barbara snuck in were just extra special.”

Fun Facts

Here are a few questions and answers to help get you started with your wedding planning in Puerto Vallarta.

Wedding season in Puerto Vallarta is from October thru June and any of those months are lovely for a wedding, however the bests months, weather wise, are December, January, February, March and the first half of April.  The weather in those months is lovely and warm during the day and it cools off a bit in the evenings with warm tropical breezes blowing off the bay, perfect for dancing the night away at your reception!  The humidity is also a lot lower in those months, which is great for hair and makeup!  Another plus is that those months have generally little or next to no chance of rain.

Rainy season starts about mid June and lasts all the way through October. The rainiest  months however, tend to be July, August and September. If you choose to hold your wedding in any of those months you will need to factor in tenting into your budget.  Not that it rains everyday, or even for long periods of time (it rarely ever rains all day here), however you need to be prepared that it can rain at any given moment and when it does it's almost always tropical torrential. Even 5 minutes of torrential rainfall can ruin an outdoor wedding and since most of the villas and venues here don't have large indoor areas capable of accommodating a wedding, if it starts to pour, you and your guests and all the tables, chairs and decor will almost definitely get drenched and ruined.  June and October tend to be less rainy, so although it still could rain on your wedding day there is definitely a little less chance of it.

Yes, don't worry!  We have villas and venues that have gorgeous terraces that overlook the beach, or they are up in the mountain and have stunning views of Puerto Vallarta and the whole Bay of Banderas.  You won't have to step foot on the beach if you don't want to.  We can help find the right one for you!

Sure you can!  One thing to consider with a sunset wedding however, is the photography.  If you get married at sunset you need to be prepared that almost all of your wedding photos will be taken when it's dusky and then dark using unnatural lighting, especially if you, the bride and groom, are not going to see each other before the ceremony. I always recommend that you leave a good hour of time between the end of the ceremony and sunset so that you can get in some great photos of the ceremony and then have time to get photos of you with the wedding party, family and friends in good natural light.  Later at sunset you can always go back to the ceremony site and take your romantic sunset shots.

If you are serving a sit down dinner and have given your guests a choice of entrées and/or starters on their invitations, then yes, assigned seating with a seating list for the caterers indicating which guest is sitting where at each table along with their menu choices is required.  Overall, wedding guests in general prefer to have assigned seating.  It simplifies things for them and works much better than having your guests wander around from table to table trying to find places available to seat 2, 3 or more people in their group, saving seats with purses, jackets and such, or playing musical chairs with other guests in order to sit together. Plus it shows your guests that you have put time and thought into them and their comfort.
